Winery

The Giacomo Vico winery has expanded from generation to generation, with the addition of new production and storage rooms.

However, the central part of the building has remained substantially unchanged. It boasts an antique U-shaped farmhouse, the first traces of which date back to 1800.

The materials used for vinification are wood and steel. For the refinement of Roero (100% Nebbiolo grapes) and Nebbiolo d'Alba, wood from large French oak barrels predominates. While the Roero Riserva "Giacomo" and the Barbera d'Alba Superiore are aged in 300h French oak barrels.

Historic winery

The historic winery extends underground along almost the entire perimeter of the original building, which was built around 1850 by the Serafino family, our ancestors.

These underground rooms independently maintain the right temperature and humidity for the refinement of our wines. Today, some of these rooms house large wooden barrels used for ageing red wines and barriques for chardonnay and some superior wines. In the rest of the basement lies a display of our best vintages and storage space for new vintages.

Above ground, in the two courtyards of the old cellar, two of our vintage cars are on display, as well as tools relating to wine making in past eras. From time to time we also host art exhibitions by local painters from Piedmont.

Modern winery

In 2010, our winery's new premises were built, after having cleared a large hill on our property, allowing us to increase our production thanks to new spaces for refining and storing wine.

In fact, 41 steel tanks were installed, with a total capacity of 1717 hl, for the processing of white wines and some reds.

Wood and steel blend elegantly while respecting tradition.

Eco-friendly winery

During the course of renovation work in 2010, our winery also became environmentally friendly, thanks to the installation of 300 square metres of solar panels. Today, around 40% of our energy needs are met sustainably and in a clean way. It is a long and arduous journey, but turning to renewable energy is the future.
