Giacomo Vico

Our winery's history dates back to the late 1800s

Giacomo began to produce the wines typical of the Langhe and Roero areas, selling it mainly in 300 and 500 litre barrels on which were applied the cellar's metal plates. Later, the wine was sold in demijohns (54 litre glass containers), and finally in bottles. We still carry numerous old labels, including Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebiolo, Barbera, Freisa, Bonarda, Grignolino and Brachetto.

The 90s

In 1990, as all three children came of age, work began on renovating the old facilities used by our great-grandfather "Giacomo". The most modern technologies for the best grape vinification were purchased, together with wooden barrels for ageing red wines.

Dario's son, Corrado, also followed his father's activity linked to the world of motors until 1970 when, together with his wife Anita, he returned to Canale to start a new business. Perhaps it was then that the flavours and fragrances of the countryside and wine began to be breathed in again. Anita thus began to appreciate wine and to wish to revive the old winery. In 1992, Anita and her son Alessandro started making wine again under the name "Giacomo Vico".

Animated by the same spirit of the founder, aiming exclusively at high-quality products and making wine from grapes coming from the territory, the land of Roero, they started a beautiful adventure made up of great professional commitment as well as great satisfaction.
